Welcome to the City of Brownsville Municipal Court Online Payment System.  This system will allow you to pay your traffic offenses that occurred within the city limits of Brownsville, Texas online.  Note: If your offense occurred within unincorporated Cameron County please visit the Cameron County Justices of the Peace Website.

Citations may not be available for online payment for a couple of days from the date of issuance.  If the online payment system is unable to locate the citation you received, it does not negate your duty to appear.  Please refer to the lower right hand corner of your citation for the Court Appearance date.  If you are not paying online, you must appear at the Municipal Court on or before your court appearance date.

Neither The City of Brownsville nor the City of Brownsville Municipal Court make any guarantees, promises or warranties regarding the accuracy of the information provided on this Site. Limitations such as differing names, and/or input errors may not show other pending citations not associated with the citation number, driver’s license number, social security number, and date of birth.

You cannot use this service for the following:

• Make a partial payment (except with a court ordered installment plan)
• Pay for parking tickets
• Pay a fine for a person in jail
• Pay a cash bond
• Request a driving safety course
• Request deferred adjudication
• Pay a code violation/ city ordinance violation (except with a court ordered installment plan)
• Pay a state mandated surcharge (Link to pay Surcharge - Texas DPS Website)
• Pay for a juvenile offense
• Pay for an alcohol or tobacco offense if you are a minor

 
If you are paying by the appearance date on your citation, the amount reflected in the system is the standard fine and court costs for that violation.

If you are paying after the appearance due date listed on your citation, the fine amount will have increased because your citation is delinquent. The increased fine amount and court costs will be reflected in the system.

If you have an active warrant, your warrant will not be cleared from the computer database for 2 to 3 business days after you pay the citation online.  Please be aware that you could still be arrested after you made your payment online; to prevent this from happening, please print out your receipt and keep it on your person until the Warrant clears.  If you wish to speak to a Court Clerk regarding your warrant, please call (956) 548-7181.

Please note: There is an $8.50 fee to use the on-line payments system.  The system accepts Visa or Mastercard.  The system will give you a confirmation number when your transaction is complete. Please keep this number for future reference regarding your payment.

I hereby understand that in accordance with Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Art. 27.14(c), payment of my citation constitutes a finding of guilty in open court.  For online payments, you may plea guilty or no contest (nolo contendere).  If you wish to plea not guilty you must appear in person before the court to handle your citations.  In addition, in order to pay online, you must agree to waive your right to a trial and your right to an attorney. If you do not understand or agree to the waiver statements, you should appear in person before the court to handle your citations.  The conviction will be reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety, if required by law.  Be aware that the State of Texas Department of Public Safety assesses surcharges based on convictions.
